What it is like to live here

This little village with its population of 420 is steeped in history and was granted to the Bishop of Bayeux following the Norman invasion in 1066. The church is 12th century, the Manor House dates back as far as the 16th Century and the area was once the ancient Royal Hunting Forest of Wychwood.

This does not mean that the village has not moved with the times and it was lucky enough to be able to retain its village railway station which together with the nearby station of Charlbury offers excellent links to London and the Midlands.

Ascott-under-Wychwood is one of the three Wychwood villages and, together with Milton-Under-Wychwood and Shipton-Under-Wychwood, offers residents various local amenities and facilities including post offices, pubs and restaurants, schools, churches, hairdressers, a library, a farrier, convenience stores and petrol stations. Further afield excellent road links via Burford, Chipping Norton and Stow-on-the-Wold access Oxford and Cheltenham with their opportunities for entertainment and major shopping excursions.

Within five miles there are no fewer than 10 primary schools, while a further five miles encompasses 11 secondary schools. The village green provides an excellent focus and the annual fete, the village hall, and the very popular local history group are further ties that bind the community together.

Hills Homes has chosen Ascott-under-Wychwood as the location to build a select collection of six new properties. Surrounded by open countryside yet well connected on all sides, the village provides a wonderful home for people looking for a rural location with excellent facilities. Whether looking for a new family home, downsizing to an easier way of living, or seeking a retreat from the stresses of modern life, Station Place has something for everyone.
